Just a quick reminder; We will be replacing the cardboard in the target butts at the range. This Saturday Oct. 21st starting at 9am. As they say, "Many hands make light work". Please come down and help if you have the time. The range will be closed for the day. On Sunday Oct. 22nd, starting at 4pm there will be a work party to get the target trailer in order. As always the more help we get, the quicker it will be completed.
Remember, the club dues are going up in 2024 so work hours can help reduce the cost of your membership. We will be switching to our Fall Public Hours beginning Monday.
Please consider volunteering as a regular Range Safety Officer or as a substitute. Historically we have not had many public shooters coming in during these hours, but we still must make these hours available. Most of our members who volunteer for this position find it is a way to commit to range time on a regular basis and get in regular practice. In addition, you will want to keep track of your hours so that you can get credit towards a free or reduced membership fee for next year. What is expected: Be sure to show up a few minutes before the doors are to be open. Make sure our front door and the door to the range is unlocked and the lights are on. Turn on the heaters or swamp coolers as needed. Enter your date and time in the Range Sign in Log (indicate RSO in the comments section). If someone comes in, and you don't know them, ask them if they are a member or a visitor. If they are a visitor and they are there to shoot, have them sign a waiver and pay $5 cash or check and put in an envelope and drop it in the mail slot in the office door. Have them enter the date and time in the Range Sign in Log and indicate that they are a public shooter. Make sure that they are shooting from the 20-yard line or using the roll up butts if they want to shoot closer. Make sure that all shooters are following standard safety protocols of staying behind the shooting line until the range is clear and only shooting when it is safe to do so. Be sure that the public shooters log out before they leave. Be sure that you log out as well when your shift is over and that the outside front door is locked. Make sure that the range is tidied up, the lights, fans and radio are turned off and the inside range door is locked before you leave, unless there are other Bow Chief members there to accept responsibility. If the visitor has questions about a membership, there are applications in the magazine rack. We have reduced rates for the remainder of the year - amounts are posted on the bulletin board. I need commitments for the month of October. Please let me know what days and hours you can volunteer by replying to this email or by calling or texting me at 208-869-2271. Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Kim Boyack
